About this app

WiFi Monitor Pro is a powerful tool that allows you to analyze the state of WiFi networks and track its parameters (signal strength, frequency, connection speed, etc). It is useful for setting up a wireless router and Wi-Fi usage monitoring. It can also be used as a scanner helping to discover devices connected to WLAN.

"Connection" tab helps to track information about the connected WiFi hotspot:
• name (SSID) and identifier (BSSID)
• router manufacturer
• connection speed
• router signal strength
• frequency and channel number
• latency info (ping)
• hotspot security options
• MAC address and IP address of smartphone
• subnet mask, default gateway and DNS address.

"Networks" tab allows to analyze all available WiFi networks by the following parameters: type, equipment manufacturer, signal level, security protocol. Access points with the same name (SSID) are grouped together.

"Channels" tab displays hotspots signal level depending on its frequencies. Routers using same frequencies provide bad quality of a Wi-Fi connection.

"Strength" chart helps to compare received power levels of available WiFi hotspots and track its dynamics. The higher router signal strength, the better quality of wireless connection.

"Speed" chart displays the real amount of transmitted and received data in the connected network. This will help to analyze usage of a hotspot.

"Scanning" section performs search of devices in the connected network and displays its parameters. If scanner reports about foreign devices in your WLAN, block them in router settings.

Collected data can be saved to log file and exported to other applications.

When it works, it works great. However, nine times out of 10, when I start the app no networks show up on the list. It just sits there blank. I've waited as long as a minute before giving up. The only way I can get it to show all the networks around me is to force stop it and then open it again. I paid for the pro version so I'm a little disappointed. When I get it to work, it has tons of information which is why I like it, but nobody should have to work this hard to get an app to work.

App is very inconsistent. Most of the time it does not show WiFi connections, or only one of two channels. The Networks tab says the list is empty while the strength tab shows typically only one of two operating channels on my router. The second channel may show up, but not consistently. This holds true for the "Strength" and "Scan" tabs as well. I have no idea why this app is highly rated.

Mostly does not work. It did originally, and the free app seems fine, but the pro app slowly stopped showing any networks. It used to eventually populate after opening and closing the settings, but now the networks and channels pages are empty. Scan works, though. Also, support link is disabled, and web link doesn't work unless I open a browser and type in the URL. The free version seems to be fine and I like the information it provides, so I don't mind that I paid for it but can't use it.
