Presented by Cracking The Cryptic, the most popular Sudoku channel, here is the brand new "Sandwich Sudoku" game that has become an internet sensation!
In Sandwich Sudoku, the puzzle is presented with extra numbers outside the grid next to each row and column. These numbers indicate the SUM of cells sandwiched between the 1 and the 9 in that row/column. The logic required to solve the puzzles will appeal to anyone who enjoys normal sudoku and a bit of basic maths. Each puzzle here has been lovingly hand-crafted by Mark Goodliffe and Simon Anthony, the hosts of Cracking The Cryptic. They've even included their own hints on each puzzle to help if you get stuck. Mark and Simon have both represented the UK many times in the World Sudoku Championship.

Layout of the buttons is so weird. When I try to add a corner number, they don't go to the correct place, they just start in the top left corner. What even are the buttons between the highlight and delete button for? They don't seem to do anything. Menu text and hints are so large and ugly. Formatting is just so weird. Would love a developer reply to this seems others want the old UI back too, pictures on app page don't seem to match game.

This variation is so cool. Love the youtube channel. However, the controls leave something to be desired, and there is no dark theme (as in sudoku board is black, numbers are a light color). A dark theme would be easy to add, and as for the controls, what i'm really missing is an input method with the numbers selected first, where I can pick a number and now any cell I touch is auto-filled, instead of selecting the cell and then filling it in.

The puzzles are very nice, and they get more difficult at the right pace. I didn't find the hints too helpful, perhaps because I got stuck at different parts of the puzzle than the creators were anticipating. Overall, very satisfying solves. The app could have had bigger input numbers (1-9). There's a big unused space nearer the top of the screen. The grid could be shifted up to make room. The digits are smaller than keyboard characters for text/email. "Fat finger" errors common and annoying.
