I started the free trial hoping to use this for my lab. Set up my library on the browser/laptop. Then tried to use the apps. But the apps for Android and iOS don't seem to work for downloading papers. I've tried on my phone (Google pixel) and on my husband iPad. Same issue. I set up the proxy for my institution but when I click "download" on papers it asks if I want to sync, I say yes, but then nothing happens and the PDFs never download. Going to find another solution and sad I wasted the time

If I were purely rating based on the web application, I would give 4-5stars. The android app leaves a lot to be desired. The biggest problem is that it just periodically (and consistently) refuses to update with sources that you have added via the web app. I have source articles that I downloaded months ago that simply will not appear in the android app. If you're main use will be on a PC I can't say enough good things about it. It's decent enough, but the sync issue really hurts its usefulness.

Great and simple app to quickly access pdfs on devices. Pdf editing in Paperpile app, especially on touchscreen, is not good at all, unfortunately, slow, cubmersome, and restricted. What I like about the app is that it syncs super well with browser with all features. To me, this was a must and worth paying a few bucks a month for my work and school because no other citation manager offered such integration. If devs improve pdf editing, I would give it 5 stars and willing pay even more honestly.
