About this app ->
COGITO Kids is a free self-help app for children and young people with and without mental problems. The aim of the app is to better deal with feelings such as grief, sadness, anger with friends or family. The exercises are designed to help you cope better with difficult situations and build self-confidence.
Do you sometimes find it difficult to ask for something or to say no? Do you sometimes feel sad without knowing why? Maybe you have stress with a friend or your family?
Corie, Gilyaz and Tom feel the same way every now and then. In short stories you will learn what helps them in difficult situations and how they – with the support of fun-loving Grandma Bärbel – cope with negative feelings. Because one thing is clear: negative feelings and difficult situations are part of life, but there are also tricks that make it easier for us to deal with them.
Corie (CO) is a little shy and lets Grandma Bärbel show her a trick or two to become bolder and more self-confident. Gilyaz (GI) sometimes feels sad, but Grandma Bärbel has many good ideas that improve her mood. Tom (TO) is often alone and then depends on his mobile phone. Grandma Bärbel also has motivating suggestions for him, which often help him to overcome his listlessness. In some of the stories of the three heroes (CO+GI+TO = COGITO) you might find yourself and you can learn a few tips from Grandma Bärbel.
Like COGITO for adults, COGITO Kids works with proven techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy. The E-Mental Health working group at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf has already shown in two controlled studies that COGITO significantly (i.e. substantially and not by chance) improves depressive symptoms and self-esteem in adults.
