Pay attention to the routes! It will route you outside of a marked channel, or refuse to create a route in a marked channel. You need to have basic boating experience and common sense when using this app. Also they have doubled the subscription price in the last couple years, while recently removing the ability to create routes on the web chart viewer even for subscribers. So now you pay more, for less features. I teach boating and am looking for a new app, and no longer reccomend this one.

We are sorry to read about your experience and would like to assist you immediately. An automatic route can be redirected to go through the channel by adding an intermediate waypoint. Please email [email protected] with SPK11285 in the subject. Include your Boat settings, start and end point coordinates, and an agent will be glad to assist you.

Since becoming Garmin some changes have been made making the app worthless for those of us cruising in uncharted waters. "Bing Satellite overlay and Terrain overlay by Open Street Maps has been removed from the current version of Boating." In Mexico the Bing overlay was a must and it's even more useful here and Fiji. For use cruising far away, removing satellite imagery has taken away our ability to use this app. It would have been more useful to add different satellite opinions.

Bing Satellite overlay has been removed as these land-specific layers see limited use by our mariners. This allows us to make better use of resources to support other features of value to a larger group of our marine community. Satellite Imagery is available as an overlay, both on its own, and with Relief Shading or Sonar Imagery.

From bad to worse, MyChart plotter is navionics software not Garmin. I tried to renew my app subscription but, the app will not allow my payment to go through. I don't know if the new app will communicate with my chartplotter. Before my app subscription expired I was able to plan routes from my phone to my onboard raymarine chartplotter. If you can't even collect the subscription fee, what good are you!? Update, After several trys my payment for the renewal went through. Last renewal was 04/2024

Brett: Subscriptions bought through the app are handled by the Play Store. They provide help on billing issues. https://tinyurl.com/yzcm7xb7 There has been no change in functionality, features or log in within the app with the current app version. Our records indicate a marine chart card renewal in March and last app renewal in Oct 2023.
