Incredibly addictive!! And good exercise for the brain The free version does have ads, but they're for other games, are very short, and aren't so frequent as to be annoying. (Very rare!) However, I'm going to upgrade anyway because these guys (Kritanix) do such a great job with their other app (Jigsaw Puzzle Epic), have been very responsive on the few occasions I emailed with questions, and, hey, GOOD software development isn't easy. Given how well they do, they deserve to be paid IMHO.

EDIT: 5 years later, ads are now ruining the experience, before it had little to no ads, now it has 30 sec ads after every game. Easy interface, nice layout, daily challenges, different types of games, almost one thousand puzzles per game types, great for beginners and experts, KILLER SUDOKU, no ads blocking game play, no access to personal info,and it is FREE! The best Sudoku app on the market period.

Originally I liked this game. It worked well, with no problems. I didn't mind the ads, they were unobtrusive and easy to ignore. But now it has switched to autoplaying unskippable video ads. And after the timer on 1 runs down, a 2nd comes up on the next page. Dear advertisers, unskippable ads will ensure I remember your product, so I can NEVER use it. Go back to the non autoplay ads that eat up my time and data, and I will give a better rating.
