About this app

Spark your child's interest in coding with 5 fun coding adventures and 2 brand new creation studios from Tynker. Designed for early learners who are learning to read!

Even pre-readers can learn to code with Tynker Junior! Tynker Junior is the fun, interactive way to spark your child’s interest in coding. Young children (ages 5-7) learn the fundamentals of coding by snapping together graphical blocks to move their characters.

Tynker Junior was inspired by the award-winning Tynker programming language (tynker.com), used by 60 million kids and in over 90,000 schools worldwide. The graphical language and user interface have been redesigned to make it easy for pre-readers, with word-free picture blocks, a tap-based interface, friendly voiceovers, helpful hints, as well as a gentle progression of difficulty to motivate completion.

Tynker Junior includes 200+ coding challenges in 5 puzzle-based adventures and 2 project creation studios:

OCEAN ODYSSEY

Learn sequencing and pattern recognition in this fun underwater adventure, as you help Gillie the goldfish collect coins!

ROBOTS!

SUPER SQUAD

Join the Super Squad and retrieve stolen museum treasure from super villains using conditional logic to handle changing situations.

[NEW] ART AND MUSIC STUDIO

WHAT IS TYNKER?

Tynker is a complete learning system that teaches kids to code. Kids begin experimenting with visual blocks, then progress to JavaScript, Swift, and Python as they design games, build apps, and make incredible projects. Over 60 million kids around the world have started coding with Tynker.

Computer programming is an important 21st century skill that kids can start learning at any age. While coding with Tynker, kids apply skills such as critical thinking, pattern recognition, focus, problem solving, debugging, resilience, sequencing, spatial visualization, and algorithmic thinking. Tynker’s block coding makes it easy for them to learn conditional logic, repetition, variables, and functions – the same coding concepts used in any mainstream programming language such as Swift, JavaScript or Python.

The free part of the app is pretty good. My 6 year old zipped thru in about half an hour, but purchasing the additional features appears to be incompatible with Google family link. Seems like a critical feature for an app designed for 5 to 8 year olds. Contacting tynker support went unanswered for a week.

This app is kind of annoying. I made a account for both of my kids and had their name on it but one of my kids account had it's name that I did not even know where it came from. And when my kids will clicked to the next level it keeps us to choose the payment method wanted me to upgrade the yearly plan. I already have my monthly plan picked but it is kind of annoying that everytime my kids will proceed to the next level they wanted us to upgrade to the yearly plan. They should have to fix this.

Subscription based, but in category free. Free version has nothing to offer and doesn't help to decide if subscibtion is worth it. Predatory practices exploiting desire for children's education
