About this app

Insomnia Coach is designed for Veterans, military Servicemembers, and others who are suffering from insomnia. The app is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) and provides:

* a guided, weekly training plan to help you track and improve your sleep
* a sleep coach with personal feedback about your sleep and fun sleep tips
* an interactive sleep diary to help you keep track of daily changes in your sleep
* 17 tools to help you get your sleep back on track

This app is based on scientific research about how people can change their behaviors and thoughts to improve their sleep. This app does NOT replace professional care.

Insomnia Coach is designed to be used daily for 5 weeks by following the Training Plan. After that, you can continue using the app to track your sleep and maintain good sleep habits.

Insomnia Coach was created by VA’s National Center for PTSD.

I'd prefer if the VA apps followed a unified user experience. Every app is completely different, which is confusing and frustrating. When using the tools such as the breathing tool, I'd like to be able to turn my screen off. When I do, it pauses the audio. I'd also like to be able to adjust the speed. Breathing at someone else's pace is frustrating and not as helpful as it could be, especially when I'm trying to get to sleep. The sleep diary doesn't work. It allows inputs, but will not save.

Idk why this isn't rated higher, it's an older app that could use an update, but the sleep hygiene stuff hasn't really changed much since then. And I appreciate a free resource that has no ads provided by our government. And a few days in and it's improving my sleep,. It's free, easy to use, although the questions are a little confusing, no ads. Great app!

A good daily sleep journal with good practical tips. I've used for four months now. There are a few flaws holding it back. First, there appears to be some data integrity issues: often, prior days will appear to lack an entry when I know I completed it. Also, when I go to edit a previous entry, all the values are different than what I previously entered. Second, the notifications are scattershot and inconsistent. Third, the tips get repetitive and could benefit from more depth and tailoring.
