About this game

Quantum 3 is an educational match-3 game for all ages where fun meets quantum physics! Build subatomic particles, learn about the mysteries of fundamental physics and deploy antimatter to clear the way! You'll match and swap quarks to make (and learn about) the baryons you need for each objective. Puzzle out the quantum properties of color, flavor and spin. So get in there and start your quantum-venture! Quantum 3 is puzzle-matching at its finest and a great intro to the world of particle physics!

The game is free-to-play with no in-app purchases.

The game is developed at Michigan State University by the Games for Entertainment and Learning Lab and is funded under grant PHY 1653405 by the National Science Foundation.

It's a pretty cool way to get familiar with some standard model terms and how quarks combine to make other particles. I just got to level 16, and found a typo in one of the image explanations for neutrons. The text correctly says that a neutron is made up of one up and two down quarks, but the image shows 1 up, 1 down, and 1 strange. Based on some reading, it looks like the game in level 16 really wants you to make lambda particles (U, D, S), not neutrons, so you might want to fix the text.

Fun game but it needs more work. Specific descriptions for the composition of baryons are missing and show the recipe for a proton or neutron instead. Stars are not awarded when completing a level. At level 25, spin becomes important but the spin is not showing in the cells (=quarks), making the level unplayable. I'm hoping these issues can be fixed soon!

nicegame. stuck in a bug on level 25. It explains spin and asks me to make a baryon, but when I do, it dissapears as expected, but the tutrial still says to try. there is nothing i can do to continue.
