About this app

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, stickers, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 40 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

Much difficult to sync the Desktop with Android phone. Was perfect, but at a certain point when Signal was closing in the Android phone without any reason. Uninstalled it and then... never more a normal sync. On the Desktop I have much more messages that in the Android. The desktop does not recognize all the contacts in the Android, and so on, and so on...

Frictionless drop in replacement for texting/SMS/imessage. Simple, convenient, cross-platform, full of great features, and as secure as you can get without anonymous sign-ups or a tech savvy user base. When I have any trouble with SMS or normal phone calls: I just force the person I'm communicating with to switch, and this just works.

Simply one of, if not the best secure messaging app. Development updates are frequent. The secure protocol along with disappearing messages ensures no other servers or device outside your own would ever have a copy of sensitive data, making compliance with handing over info if requested by ANY state/authority MOOT. The overall UX design is compact and minimal which helps a ton on low memory devices. My only complaint is lack of widespread adoption within most of my contacts and getting them to.

What's new

★ The new and slightly refreshed Signal logo can help you digitally experience the feeling of seeing a good friend right after they get a haircut (but it's not a completely new hairstyle).
★ Chat folders let you organize your organizations, group your groups, and individualize your individuals into unique folders that are easy to customize and rearrange.
