I have been searching for a really good turn based team RPG with an engaging story line. Heroes of Steel exceeded all of my expectations by a wide margins. The story line is incredibly engaging as well as intricate with a lot of inter character complexity and intrigue. If this game was a novel, it would be hard to put down. Each NPC the party interacts with appear to have deep personality and a fleshed out history. This game's combat mechanics and item customization are both top notch.

The idea and objective of the game is spot on. Old school D & D type game play. I wish there was a little less dungeon crawler and at least some intellectual puzzles or needs. Foes become harder and tactics/strategies become necessary. Combat is the core of this game yet it lacks obvious concepts, stun, flash, darkness, etc. Overall the game is fun and combat challenging, but it could be so much more, especially with such a great background storyline.

I have been enjoying it so far. The free mission is good enough to get an understanding of what I can expect in the other episodes. I personally would recommend that individuals also purchase the extra characters because at least some of them will dramatically improve gameplay. I purchased all four in an effort to test which ones I prefer for different play styles. The total cost for the four missions and the four characters is actually quite reasonable.
