About this game

Wizardry Variants Daphne carries on the lineage of the classic RPG series, Wizardry. The portal to the labyrinth of despair, where even destruction is pleasure, has opened once again.

■ Story
Once every 100 years, the Abyss opens.

It is a curse of death that consumes the continent. A Warlock who coveted Death, devoured people and animals and enveloped the world in despair.

Inheriting the power to seal the Abyss over generations, kings have continued to protect the kingdom from its curse.

But now, the king has vanished, and the world is being consumed by death, moment by moment.

Resistance itself is meaningless.
There is naught but to perish.

Game is fun. Characters are interesting and the story is well-written. I have to give it a 1 star right now for a couple of reasons. First, I just tried entering the Cave of Malice last night, and the game crashes during the intro dialog. I may get a couple of lines in, but it stutters constantly and eventually crashes, so I can no longer progress. Second, there's no cloud save, so if you run into a game-breaking bug (as I have) your only choice is to delete everything and start over.

So far, so good. A nice, fairly engaging, classic RPG combat loop. It's slapped on top of a rather generic story that won't really have you thinking all that hard about it. As of writing, it's a bit light on content. It's easy to see where the difficulty balance has been slightly overturned to make up for that. But I hear there's a road map for the future content set to come out after a few waves of bug fixing. So, personally, I'm optimistic about its future. TL;DR: Fun gameplay, little story.

I managed yo play this game for a weekend. It's fun and has an interesting story that makes sense for its hero summoning system. Unfortunately, it was only for that weekend as at the start of an enemy encountered, it crashed and continued to crash for me past the main screen sense then. I check every day. I'm hoping it gets fixed, but so far, no luck. When it gets fixed, I'll probably continue to play it.
