About this app

Tracker Detect looks for items that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network. These items include AirTag and compatible devices from others. If you think someone is using an AirTag or another item to track your location, you can scan to find it.

I scanned for my parents' air tags on their dogs, which were laying within 10 feet awa and it only detected one of them. After scanning again to find the second one, none were found, and after many repeated attempts, I finally found it again. When I finally found one again, I had to wait 10 MINUTES to play a sound from it, and when the 10 minutes passed, the app said it couldn't find it. Neither I nor the dogs had moved the whole time. My phone has no issues with Bluetooth.

App was last updated Feb of '22. Seriously? Use the built in option on your android phone, as long as the OS supports it and you have a recent phone such as pixel 7 or 8, maybe 6, but probably won't work on pixel 2. I tried the app and was able to see one after scanning with the app but didn't hear anything after 10 minutes of waiting to play a sound, and it didn't tell me anything such as distance etc. Removed.

Was hoping for an option to have this running in the background. If I'm already under the impression an Apple tag is around me that shouldn't be, I probably don't need to take that moment to open an app to scan and confirm suspicions. I thought it would scanning in the background, the way it seems it does for Apple. At least the option for continual scanning, for the malignant use of a tracking device, would be much more helpful. Do better Apple.
