I have the same problem as others - the ad system is ill-behaved and I am frequently booted from the game waiting to be returned from an ad. A-Star's approach ("send us a screen shot") is inadequate. Instead of waiting for the ad to return control to the game code, they should set a timer in their code that allocates a maximum allowable time for an ad to run and then automatically return the player to the game board if the time limit is reached.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry for the trouble the ads are causing. All of our ads should have a skip button appear to return to the game. We don't allow ad formats that have a skip timer longer than 5 seconds or take more than 2 clicks to close. Please feel free to report any ad causing problems for you, and we'll do our best to block it.

The ads have gotten ridiculous. I've been booted off so many tables waiting for the ads to finish. I see a lot of reviews with the same issue, yet nothing is being done to limit them. If it doesn't get fixed soon, I'm deleting the app and downloading a different version. I also have A-Star Euchre and don't have that problem there. Edit 11/17: It seems they worked on this issue. I haven't been booted in a couple of days. I'll hold off on the 5 star rating for now.

AI is not very good. A bot will occasionally bid nil and then throw a trump card when it has non-spades to play. It's almost as if the AI is programmed to throw the game at certain points (sometimes in your favor, sometimes not). Update 10/31/19: App now makes you sit through a 15 second ad between every hand. That's enough to make me find a new Spades app.
