--------------------------------------------------------------

What's the NATO Alphabet?

As the most widely used radiotelephone spelling alphabet, the NATO Phonetic Alphabet is also commonly known as the NATO Spelling Alphabet, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Phonetic/Spelling Alphabet or International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet. It was created for those who exchange voice messages by radio or telephone to understand the 26 letters of the English alphabet and numbers more easily, regardless of language differences or the quality of the connection.
--------------------------------------------------------------

What does the app do?

Different from most apps in the App Store or Google Play store, this app focuses on practice and trains your knowledge of the names of the 26 letters. What’s more, you can choose to train the names by typing or voice, and I strongly recommend the latter as it’s much more useful in real life. Besides the aforementioned rather unique feature, the app also helps to explore and learn the names of the 26 letters, numbers and so on and translate words, phrases and your license plate number.
--------------------------------------------------------------

How to explore and learn?

On the Explore page, you can see the 26 letters of the English alphabet (as well as number 0 - 9, decimal, hundred and thousand), their word representations and their pronunciation, and you can click them to hear their official pronunciation. Try to remember the word representations of the letters and their pronunciation (3 as a group) and train your knowledge on the Train page.
--------------------------------------------------------------

How to train?

On the Train page, the 26 letters are grouped into 9 levels and in between there are several challenges. In a level, you have unlimited tries and time to test your knowledge while in a challenge, you must answer within a short period of time and make less than 3 mistakes to pass it. In both the levels and challenges, you can answer either by typing or by speaking. I strongly recommend the latter as it is how the alphabet is commonly used in reality.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Translate and save as favorite.

On the Translate page, you can translate any words/phrases into the NATO Alphabet and play them in audio format. You can also save them (by clicking the star icon) as your favorite. For example, you can bookmark your license plate number for easy access later.
--------------------------------------------------------------

What settings can I change?

Under Settings on the More page, you can enable/disable the interface sound and switch on/off vibration on error.

Have fun learning and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me by email ([email protected]).

The app has a flaw in releasing audio requiring several presses, it clips part and then engages on 3rd try. The female voice is, well...shrill and very young. Nothing you will hear in a transmission even via a dispatcher. The audio needs compression and lower octave to good for training. The paywall is a closed subject so why bother taking issue. Its apparently assumed jumping out of your seat finally hearing the loud young girls voice is compensable. I think its not worth buying until revised.

Hi Craig, it costs 1$ to get access to all the training levels. With the free version, you can learn the NATO Phonetic Alphabet by reading and listening, and you only need to pay if you want to train your knowledge (access to the training levels) with the app. I’m sorry but this is how I make a living and I have to earn some money.

I'd have to mention my email address or my name over the phone and I became a bit embarrassed that I didn't know these Alphabets. I'd say things like 'dog' for the letter 'D'. This App is extremely helpful! I purchased the premium version (one time payment, around $1) and because of their 'Train' questions, it was easy to become confident in these within 20-30 minutes MashaAllah. Highly recommended. Haven't encountered a single ad, even before paying for the premium version. Grateful for that.

Well the idea is great. But speach recognition should be improved and also the microphone button does not work well. It's active for just a few seconds than I have to click it again. This can be improved.

Hi Filip, unfortunately speech recognition is not implemented by us and it could vary from device to device. I tested the app on few different types of devices and the voice recognition worked well on all of them. I’m sorry that it’s not working well on your device.
