This is a Wear OS app that helps you stay on top of air pollution by providing location based air quality information.
It works both as a standalone app, and also provides a complication that can be placed on your watch face.
The air quality index is provided based on one of the standards that you can select within the app.
Trial period & Subscription pricing:
When you first start the application on a device, a 14-day trial period will begin. At the end of this trial period, a yearly subscription must be purchased in order to keep using the service. The price for the subscription is adjusted by country, and it will be presented to you at that point. It will be in the range of about 3 to 4 USD per year.
Available indexes:
- (EU) Common Air Quality Index (CAQI).
- (US) Environmental Protection Agency (US-AQI).
- (UK) Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants (UK-AQI).
- (IN) National Air Quality Index (IN-AQI).
- (CN) Ministry of Environmental Protection (CN-AQI).
Permissions & Personal information:
The stand alone app requires the fine location permissions to obtain air quality data in your area, while the complication requires the background location permission (so it can access the location while the application is closed).
You will be asked for these permissions as they are needed.
We also use a unique ID, to validate your trial license.
More information on these topics can be found in the privacy policy.
Feedback & Support:
Please use the contact form if there are features you would like to see added or if you're having difficulties with the existing ones. I appreciate both positive and negative feedback, so don't hold back if you have any comments - I want to hear them all.
Known problems:
When the watch is connected to the phone, if the phone is in doze mode, it will stop serving location requests for the watch. This will result in the app taking longer to load new data, because it's waiting for a new location from the OS. The location request will fail, and it will fallback on the previous known location, then the request to our server will be made. This will result in fresh data, but for a potentially old location. I have no solution for this at this time, but as a work around, you can wake the phone up briefly when that happens, or just move it around. You can also simply ignore it because the last known location is likely correct, since doze mode only kicks in if the phone is stationary.
