• Easy to use — Our all-new app has been redesigned to make it easier to read, organize, and write your emails.
• Your inbox is yours — We don’t spy on your communications to show you targeted ads. Your inbox, your rules.
• Rigorous encryption — Your inbox is secured on all your devices. No one can read your emails but you. Proton is privacy, guaranteed by end-to-end and zero-access encryption.
• Unmatched protection — We offer strong phishing, spam, and spying/tracking protection.

Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.

Proton Mail in the press:

“Proton Mail is an email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes

“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT that met at CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

The app misbehaves when data connection isn't good. Sent my email with no subject when I wanted simply to save it as draft. The weird behavior while having poor internet connection isn't new. This problem exists for long time now and isn't being addressed. Yes, I did press the X button to save the draft. I realize that this is difficult to reproduce because a weak unrelable data connection is required. But try sending an email with attachments in such condition and you should experience things.

That doesn't sound right! Did you tap the 'x' button in the upper left corner of the screen to save the message as draft? Report this to us via the in-app 'report a problem' option if it is something you are constantly able to reproduce.

Proton Mail phone notifications are unreliable since the last update. Often times, I don't receive phone notifications, although Proton sends email notifications to my recovery email address that I have messages in my Proton account. And that's how I found out I have messages in Proton. I deleted and reinstalled the app, and checked all my phone settings. I even fully reset my phone. No joy! Please fix the bug. The phone is a Chinese knock-off (Oukitel WP35), and runs Android 14.

We're sorry to hear about the trouble! Please make sure your Google Play services are up-to-date and check out our troubleshooting suggestions here: https://proton.me/support/not-receiving-push-notifications . If none of this helps, contact us via the in-app 'Report a problem' option for further assistance.

I pay so much money for a Visionary account. They've been ignoring my support requests for days. My data is missing. They are refusing to recover it. Emails in my sent folder just keep disappearing. They told me they can't restore the entire mailbox to a previous state. So use them for email if you don't actually need your email. Edit: It is right and I'm done pretending your support knows what it's doing. I've been in IT for 20+ years. Some people just shouldn't be in technology.
