About this app

This is a very simple application for browsing Open street maps.

- gestures for moving and zooming the map

- zoom buttons for using native OSM zoom levels

- map button for switching between OSM classic and OpenTOPO maps

- follow your location

The application is based on OSMDroid-library, so all displayed maps are cached and can be displayed without internet.

The app is open sourced under MIT license:

I'm fortunate that in the area where I live many of the local footpaths are shown on OSM - they aren't all on Google Maps. With this app I can walk the footpaths and know exactly where I am, I can also navigate and plan routes. It's very fast, even on my cheap entry-level smartphone, and it's very simple and reliable to use. Excellent piece of software!

I like this app. It is simple and fast to use, has a straightforward, uncluttered user interface, and, best of all, shows footpaths and byways in my area that Google Maps does not show. The only thing I find missing is a search facility. If it had that, I'd give it 5 stars. Kudos and thanks to the developer.

Nice viewer. I like the fact that it comes without a load of bells and whistles, but for me it lacks one feature: a search option to quickly change the map location. IMHO such option is essential for every map viewer (and the Nominatim service makes it very easy to implement).

You are right, the app is not intended to be overloaded with many functions. Actually, if you click on a share location or select a text, which Android recognizes as a location, you can open it in the app. So Nominatim is partially implemented. A very simple search, which provides e.g. only one location could be added in some future releases.

What's new

- bumping up versions of SDK and libraries
- adding text for permanently denied permission
