About this game

while True: learn() is a puzzle/simulation game about even more puzzling stuff: machine learning, neural networks, big data and AI. But most importantly, it’s about understanding your cat.

In this game, you play as a coder who accidentally found out that their cat is extremely good at coding, but not as good at speaking human language. Now this coder (it’s you!) must learn all there is to know about machine learning and use visual programming to build a cat-to-human speech recognition system.

The logic puzzles are somewhat enjoyable, but the reinforced learning tasks are completely broken. No matter what inputs I give for the guided training, the generated training epochs always behave exactly the same. For RL-1 the car sits at 50mph, 2 the car avoids the first car and smashes into the second, 3 the car avoids the first car and turns to avoid the second but then turns again immediately and smashes car 2, 4 car does gas and brake no turning, 5 car just applies gas. Can't change it.

I've been playing lots of programming games lately (human resource machine, Zachtronics stuff) - and this game has history and knowledge of ML, but it's a sorting game. That's it. Sort, sort, sort, credits. There's other aspects that just aren't fun: * "evolve" parts just take up time and could just be sped up and or skipped. * Startup stages just immediately fail after the 4th startup, and you just lose money. No real lesson to why I failed, AND I have less money now. * 3x speed is still slow.

Good game with fun logic puzzles. Several hours of entertainment and worth the price! The final levels didn't really involve much of a logic challenge, and instead just required you to guess with a couple minutes of trial-and-error to determine how many RNN nodes to include to get the right outcome. So the final stage of the game was a little disappointing and could use a rethink.
