First day using it. Almost all instances of "speeding" were on sections of road that were not the speed they thought it was and haven't been that speed ever or for ages (it thinks a stretch of road that has been 50 mph for as long as I can remember is 30 mph, similarlyit thinks a part of the a town is 25 mph when its 30 mph and always has been). Trying to decide if it's worth keeping to see if it improves.

Hi Ashley, We'll be happy to adjust the speed limit on any roads where the database doesn't have it right. You can send us the info right through the app or drop a note to [email protected].

In general, the app has increased my awareness of my driving habits and made me a safer driver. However, I have experimented with the app and found some unrealistic results. I found that normal stopping at 35 mph for a red light in response to the warning yellow results in a penalty for excessive braking. I've found similar results for normal acceleration following a stop for a traffic light. There is no penalty for going through a red light, only for braking quickly to stop for the red light.

Far too inflexible support, means that one cannot realistically dispute garbage reporting from the not all that sophisticated AI employed. If one is forced to slam on one's brakes because a cat runs out into the road, one is penalized for tailgating. Similarly, if one's phone moves around on the seat next to one, while its screen is on, the system assumes one is using one's phone while driving. Support people just stonewall.

It's true that AARP SafeTrip can't discern why someone braked severely. And we also understand that rare instances of hard braking are necessary and understandable. So, while you may lose a star on an individual trip when something like this occurs, your overall driving score won't see much impact -- provided instances are infrequent.
